But when systems of oppression want us to suffer, joy is a form of resistance.
This weekend, Cliff Media will be hosting our first shoot weekend of 2026, open to all good-hearted people. It’s called “Resilient Hope and Joy” with 7 scenes centering the theme of hopeful, loving moments in the cracks of hard times. Even when life feels hard – perhaps especially when life feels hard – we choose to laugh, hold each other and fuck anyway.
I am inspired, entering this weekend, by the poem “Don’t Hesitate” by Mary Oliver:
“If you suddenly and unexpectedly feel joy,
don’t hesitate. Give in to it. There are plenty
of lives and whole towns destroyed or about
to be. We are not wise, and not very often
kind. And much can never be redeemed.
Still, life has some possibility left. Perhaps this
