As we prepare for filming in Seattle (February), Philadelphia (June) and San Jose (August), I’m reminiscing on the incredible joy and inspiration of travel last year.
Back in 2023, I hosted a “SlutFest tour” across many states, but that was before Cliff Media existed. At that time, I traveled alone and conceived and led all the scenes independently, but that’s infinitely easier than the logistics of travel with a team and support of local directors who develop and lead based their own ideas.
But to me, that choice makes the difference between creating content and building community vision. Now the Whore’s Nest (Cliff Media’s leadership board) is traveling together – and all the scenes are directed by local LGBTQ+, BIPOC and people with disabilities. It’s a lot to pull off, but so worth it for the value of connection, creativity and meaning that comes out of it. Cliff Media is not about a Portland bubble, but, over time, as much as we logistically can, about a new approach to adult media and sex-positive community that lifts voices and bridges connections across the world.
If you’re in Washington, the East Cost area, or California and you’re LGBTQ+, BIPOC or a person with disabilities, we would LOVE to support you in developing your own scene this year. We know it can feel odd jumping in and directing when you haven’t even participated in a Cliff Media shoot before, but that’s the inevitable nature of community organizing from afar. If you’re interested, we set up video calls with prospective directors, help prepare draft scripts based on your idea (when desired), gather props, set and co-performers to help your idea come to life.
